Actually the novella was not bad for a quick read. My train ride home lasts about an hour. I could have read two of these novellas. The story was pretty predictable. A couple separates after two children and 24 years of marriage. The H moves out of their home and out of the state. He has never contacted the h since their separation. As their 25th anniversary approaches, the h begins to receive gifts at work and at home in the form of roses and candy from a secret admirer.Spoiler-
The h is clueless as to who the admirer is. She still loves her hubby very much and reflects back as to what went wrong with their marriage. She wonders if it was the lack of romance or the preoccupation with self interests that caused each to lose interest in the other. Her hubby then appears out of nowhere right before the anniversary to ask if he can crash at the house so he can work on a local construction project. She says yes and the H moves in. I won't give up any more of the story since it is a novella and there isn't that much left of the book.
The story had a lot of potential. It could have used some marriage flashbacks reflecting both the happy and sad moments of the couple's marriage. I got some insight as to why they split up from the h's pov, but nothing from the H's pov. The entire story was from the h's pov. Her thoughts include how much she missed the H, the loneliness without him, and the sadness of being on her own. It would have been nice to hear the H's pov regarding the h and their marriage.
The story left me with some nagging questions. Why didn't the H contact the h during the year they were separated? Why did he feel a need to move out of the state? In the story, he just shows up, spends a couple of nights at the house, and then suddenly, a hea.
It was still a fun read.

Nice quick story from Elizabeth Rose is alway Good. she never fails.
This was a great story about second chances and the consequences of not communicating. It teaches you that it takes two to communicate and that someone has to be the first one to take that first steps toward communication. I highly recommend this story to anyone who likes stories about rekindled love and second chances.
A sweet story of love lost and found again. As usual Ms Rose delivers a lovely tale. ONE RED ROSE is a short story about two people whose love has gotten buried under the demands of making a living and raising a family and how they rediscover it. A quick read that will leave you smiling.
A quick short read about about fixing your mistakes and second chances. The longer you are together in a relationship the more things become compliant and that once bright spark tends to burn out. This is a story about two people whose spark went out and how that spark was brought back to life. Realistic characters, notable storyline and an enjoyable read about second chances.
A beautiful story of a life time of love that needs a boost of romance. As the author mentions is her closing, we can sometimes take the gift of love for granted and if we are not careful it will be lost to us. But, if we are lucky the spark can transform that love into something more special than we can imagine. I enjoyed how that lesson was portrayed in this short story.
What is love? Can love die if it Isn't nourished? People think they don't need romance or closeness. Come to find out you do need romance to keep love alive. After 25 years this couple found out that love need to be nourished and romance is what love needs. This charming story tells you just what is needed to make their love work. A simple short story, but it is so true. It is simply a must read.

After 25 years of married, the magic seemed to fade away along with any display of romance. They separated and went on with their lives but never divorced. Now Eva is receiving multiple deliveries of a single red rose from a secret admirer, who seems to be stalking her. While she's dealing with the mixed emotions generated by this new development in her life, Cooper returns to town and wants to stay with her for the duration of his stay. Will love blossom anew with Cooper or will the secret admirer steal Eva away once and for all. This is a lovely story that is well-paced and engaging to keep you guessing right up to the most satisfying ending.
